Fasting on the day of ‘Arafah

According to a Hadith of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam): "The fast that a person observes on the day of ‘Arafah, expiates the sins of the previous year and the following year." (Muslim)

6 Roza after Eid

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:

"The one, who observes 6 fasts in Shawwaal after Ramadhan, it is as if he has fasted throughout the year." (Saheeh Muslim)

The month of Shawwaal is the month that comes after the month of Ramadhan, which begins with the day of Eid. According to the Hadith, there are five days in a year in which it is not permissible to fast:

THE FAST OF THE DAY OF ARAFAT

It is recommended to fast on the day of A'rafah. The day of A'rafah is the 9th Zul-Hijjah or the eve of Baqr Eid.

Fasting on the day of Eid

An action becomes an Ibaadah when it is performed in accordance to the obedience of Allah Ta’ala and His Rasul (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). Salah is a great Ibaadah but it will no longer remain an Ibaadah if it is performed while disobeying Allah Ta’ala and His Rasul (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). All Ibaadat should be understood in the same way.

The fasting of 'Aa'shurah

The 10th day of Muharram was a day the Jews were fasting. They were fasting because it was on that day that Allah Ta'ala freed Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salam) and his Ummah from Pharaon. Therefore, it was a fast of gratitude. The Quraish also were observing this fast. Likewise, Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) also was observing this fast before his arrival to Madinah. When he came to Madinah, he ordered the Sahaabah-e-Kiraam (Radiyallaahu Anhum) to observe this fast. Before the obligation of the fasting of Ramadan, the fast of the 10th day of Muharram was Farz.

The fast of the day of Arafat

It is recommended to fast on the day of A'rafah. The day of A'rafah is the 9th Zul-Hijjah or the eve of Baqr Eid.

According to a Hadith in Sahih Muslim, Allah Ta'aala forgives the sins of the previous year and the coming year by fasting on that day. According to the explanation of the scholars of Deen‎, only the minor sins are forgiven. As for the major sins, one must make Taubah for them to be forgiven. It is also possible that Allah Ta'aala pardons whoever He wants without him even making Taubah.

The Roza of the fifteenth of Sha'baan

According to a hadith of Ibn Majah which is narrated by Hazrat Ali (Radiyallahu Anhu), Nabi (Sallallahu  Alaihi Wassalam) has recommended to perform Ibaadah during the night of the fifteenth of Sha'baan and to fast during the day.
