Qur’an-e-Kareem

Qur’an-e-Kareem is the word of Allah Ta’ala that has been revealed to our beloved Nabi, Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). This Qur’an has not been revealed all at once. It was revealed gradually during a period of 23 years, depending on the need.

In Qur'aan-e-Kareem, Allah Ta’ala said that he has revealed Qur'aan-e-Kareem in the night of Qadr. This means that Allah Ta’ala has revealed the entire Qur’an-e-Kareem, from "Al-Lawh Al-Mahfouz" to a place called Bait-ul-I'zzah on the night of Qadr. And from there, it was revealed little by little to Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) for 23 years.

There are 114 Surah in the Qur’an-e-Kareem. Sura Baqarah is the longest Surah and Surah Al-Kauthar is the shortest Surah. Qur’an-e-Kareem begins with Surah Al-Fatihah and ends with Surah An-Naas. The first five verses of Surah Al-'Alaq (96) was the first revelation that Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) received when he was engaged as usual in Ibaadah and meditation in a cave called Hira. And the last verse that was revealed is the verse 281 of Surah Al-Baqarah.

Qur’an-e-Kareem is the most authentic book. Allah Ta’ala has given the guarantee that He will preserve this book until Qiyamah. No one will be able to add or subtract from it. And in actual fact, 1400 years have already passed. This book is still intact as it was 1400 years ago. Allah Ta’ala has facilitated the memorisation of this book. One can see small children below the age of ten reciting this Qur’an by heart. Therefore, Qur'an in itself is a Mu'jizah (miracle) that shows that it is Divine revelation and that the person who received it through revelation is a true Nabi (Prophet).

Qur’an-e-Kareem is a benefit and a blessing for the entire humanity. According to a Hadith, Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said that Allah Ta’ala grants dignity to a nation through this Qur’an just as He dishonours another due to this Qur’an itself. That is, the one who adheres to it, will have complete success. On the other hand, the one who opposes it will fail and will denigrate himself.

The Sahaabah-e-Kiraam (Radiyallahu Anhum) ruled the world when they had Qur’an in their lives. However, those who came after, lost power, even in their homes also, because they have neglected the Qur’an. So, total and complete success lies in leading our lives according to the Qur’an. It is this very same thing that is lacking in us and others are doing their best to remove this very same thing from us. That is why we must promote the Qur’an-e-Kareem. We must accelerate our efforts at the level of Maktab and Madrassah to ensure a correct recitation and Tilaawat of the Qur’an-e-Kareem.

When a person knows the Qur’an-e-Kareem correctly, he will have the enthusiasm to read it every day. And this will serve him as a light in Dunya and as a provision in the Aakhirah. And the attachment that will develop in him through daily Tilaawat, will keep him firm on Deen. That is why Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:

"The best among you is the one who learns Qur’an and teaches it."

This is because the learning and teaching of Qur'an are means to make Qur'an prevail at all levels thereby guaranteeing eternal salvation.
