Performing Sajdah Tilaawat after Salat-ul-Fajr and Salat-ul-A'ssr

Question:

Is it permissible to perform Sajdah Tilaawat after Salat-ul-Fajr and Salat-ul-A'ssr?

Answer:

First of all, we must know that it is not permissible to perform any Nafl Salaah during these 5 times:

1. From Subh-e-Saadiq (dawn) until sunrise,

2. At sunrise,

3. At zenith - Zawaal,

4. After Salat-ul-A'ssr until sunset,

5. At sunset.

As for the Qaza Salah, they can be replaced at any time except:

1. At sunrise,

2. At zenith (Zawaal),

3. At the time of Taghayyur. 

N.B: Taghayyur means a change. In this context, it means the phase when the sun turns yellow a few moments before sunset. To determine Taghayyur, we must try to fix the gaze at the sun. If we can fix it, it means that Taghayyur has already started. As long as it is difficult to fix the gaze, it means that the sun has not yet reached the phase called Taghayyur.

4. At sunset.

Sajdah Tilaawat can be performed at any time even when it is not permissible to perform Qaza and Nafil Salah. However, it is best not to perform it during those four moments. If ever, Sajdah became Wajib at a time other than those times which have been mentioned above, then it will not be permissible to perform it during these four times as well. By this explanation, it is understood that it is permissible to perform Sajdah Tilaawat after Salaat-ul-Fajr and Salaat-ul-A'ssr. Similarly, it is permissible to perform it at sunrise and at sunset. Although it is best to perform it at another time, it is not permissible to choose these two times, that is, at sunrise and at sunset, to perform a Sajdah that has become Wajib at another time.
