Christmas

If you are a Muslim, it is not permissible for you to celebrate Christmas or give gifts on this occasion. When we say that it is not permissible, it means that it is Haraam because by celebrating Christmas, we are imitating the non-Muslims. Similarly, our Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) has adopted a very harsh attitude towards those who imitate others. According to a Hadith, a person who imitates a community becomes like them. Becoming like a community means that there is a risk of being treated like that community in Aakhirah.

You can remain on good terms with others without imitating them. You do not have to imitate them to show that you are on good terms with them. On the contrary, it is our duty to ensure that others respect our principles. And this will only be possible when you respect your own principles. If you do not respect your principles, others will not respect it nor will they have respect for you.
