Sins

Here or in the Hereafter

One should not think of oppressing anyone due to one’s thinking that one has more strength than him. Everything has a limit. One’s strength also has a limit where it comes to a stop. There is a beginning and an end also for one’s strength. There will be a day when one’s grand speech that one used to give, will disappear. It is not because one will forget what one was or what one did, but it is because one will not have the strength to do it. It is one’s good fortune if one does not undergo / go through what one made people undergo.

Stop harming yourself

A person whose life is not according to Deen, is first of all, causing himself an immense harm. Moreover, he is a nuisance for the whole humanity. The sin which he commits attracts the wrath and the curse of Allah Ta'ala. This closes the door of the favours of Allah Ta'ala which descend on earth in the form of rain, health, prosperity and joy. In this way, it is a cause of harm to others also. That is why animals also curse such a person. This nuisance does not spare his close ones nor his beloved ones.

ENJOY BUT DO NOT HARM

We are free to enjoy our lives but it does not give us the right to harm the lives of others. When we turn up the volume on our speaker, we should realise that this perturbs those who are sleeping. It disturbs those who are sick and it causes harm to the neighbours. Eventually we harm ourselves and our life in Aakhirah.

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: "The one, whose neighbour is not safe from his misdeeds, his Imaan is incomplete." (Bukhari and Muslim)

REFLECTION - WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE???

Just imagine for a moment, IF Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) had to come to visit you all of a sudden for 1 or 2 days, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE???

  • I am sure that you would have given him your best room to stay.

  • I am sure that you would have served him the best food that you have/can afford.

HADITH CHOSEN FOR YOU - Never do Zulm

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: "Fear the curse of the one who bore Zulm (injustice); because certainly, there is no veil between him and Allah Ta’ala."

[English version of "Jamais faire Zouloum" – Al Jamiat – Vol.1 No.3]

MANNAT OR OATH ON THE NAME OF A PERSON...

Similarly, it is not permissible to make a Mannat or take an oath on the name of someone else besides Allah Ta’ala as making Mannat is an Ibaadah and it is not permissible to do an Ibaadah for someone else besides Allah Ta’ala.

[English version of "Mannat ou promesse lors nom kikene ..." – Al Jamiat – Vol.1 No.5]

HOW TO REFRAIN FROM COMMITTING SINS

We take the trouble to buy a helmet in order to wear it when travelling on motorcycles. Isn't this helmet a headache? Nonetheless, we accept all this just to avoid paying a fine. Similarly, we must realise that we should present ourselves in front of Allah Ta’ala to give an account for everything that we have done in this world. We should pay a fine and a penalty fee. Before doing anything, one must think about the fine that one will have to pay.
