Mubaah

Mubaah is something that is permissible. There is no reward in doing it just as there is no sin in neglecting it. A Mubaah becomes an action of merit or sin, merely through intention. For example, it is permissible for a person who does not really need a car, to buy one for outings or for a drive. It is Mubah to this extent.

Principle concerning Mubah

Mubah can become an act of Sawaab just as it can also become Haraam. This depends on the intention of a person when carrying it out. For example, if a person buys a car with the intention of using it for the work of Deen, then this will become an act of Sawaab. On the other hand, if he buys it to go to evil places such as cinema, casino, club, nightclub, etc., then it will be a burden on the person. It is to be noted that this reasoning does not apply to Haraam things. For example, robbing a person with a good intention to help the poor does not render the act of stealing Halaal. That is, a good intention cannot make Halaal become Haraam. Haraam remains Haraam.

As for a good deed, it must be done with sincerity. However, if one is unable to monitor his intention, he should not refrain from doing the good deed. Effort must be made to correct the intention and persevere in doing that good deed. After few days, it will become a habit. When an action becomes a habit, the intention of showing off does not remain. It will be like the statement: "Habit is not boastful."
