Istighfar

Istighfar means asking for forgiveness from Allah Ta’ala for previous sins.

Everyone must constantly ask for forgiveness from Allah Ta’ala because in a way, everyone is guilty of certain shortcomings. Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) used to ask for forgiveness 70 to 100 times a day.

"O Allah! By Your Grace, forgive the minor and major sins that I have committed knowingly and the sins that I have committed unknowingly."

"O Allah! There is no one who can forgive sins besides You."

"O Allah! I do not have any refuge besides You."

"O Allah! Open the door of Your grace for me."

"O Allah! I do not have any door to knock at besides Your door."

"O Allah! Have mercy on me, pardon me and envelope me with Your Blessing because You are the Great Pardoner."
