Committing sins openly

A sin remains a sin. However, there are different categories of sins. Certain sins can be more grave than others. Committing sins openly is more grave than committing it secretly because committing it openly, is a type of encouragement for those who were hesitant to commit it.

When a person commits a sin openly in public, he commits a kind of affront to the Shari’ah. That is why this takes away the security and well-being that had surrounded him from Allah Ta’ala. He becomes a vulnerable person. Similarly, if a person tells the next person about the sin that he has committed, it is like a sin that he has committed openly in public. Therefore, that person also suffers the same fate like a person who commits a sin openly in public.
