LOOKING IN THE QUR’AN WHILE PERFORMING SALAH - FATWA

1. Hazrat Abdullah Bin Abbaas (Radiyallahu Anhuma) said that Hazrat Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu) had prohibited from looking in the Qur’an while leading the people in Salah. 

2. Hazrat Ibraheem An-Nakh'i said that the Sahabah-e-Kiraam (Radiyallahu Anhum) and the Taabi'in did not appreciate looking in the Qur’an during Salah. 

3. Allaamah Bin Hazm said: 

"It is not permissible for a person who is doing Imaamat to look inside the Qur’an and recite neither in Farz nor in Nafl. His Salah and the Salah of the Muqtadi who perform Salah behind him knowingly, is null and invalid." (Al-Muhalla)
