DETESTING AN IMAAM

It is not a good sign when a Musalli detests an Imaam. This is unless the Imaam has a certain shortcoming which is valid and founded according to the Shari’ah. Otherwise, detesting an Imaam without a valid reason is an act that does not please Allah.

Reciting behind the Imaam

Question:

"All those who say that one should not recite behind the Imaam are Jaahil." This is a statement made by an orator in one of his speech. Your comment please.

Answer:

UNITE – DO NOT CAUSE DIVISION

Practicing or not practicing Rafa' Yadein in Salah is not a reason to say that we are better than the next person. Both are Muslims. A good Muslim is the one who is closer to Allah Ta’ala. Just as the practice of Rafa’ Yadein does not bring us closer to Allah Ta’ala, similarly refraining from it also does not distance us from Allah Ta’ala. To practice Rafa’ Yadein is not obligatory and to refrain from it is not Haraam. To stay united with love and harmony is obligatory.

LOOKING IN THE QUR’AN WHILE PERFORMING SALAH - FATWA

  1. Hazrat Abdullah Bin Abbaas (Radiyallahu Anhuma) said that Hazrat Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu) had prohibited from looking in the Qur’an while leading the people in Salah.

  2. Hazrat Ibraheem An-Nakh'i said that the Sahabah-e-Kiraam (Radiyallahu Anhum) and the Taabi'in did not appreciate looking in the Qur’an during Salah.

  3. Allaamah Bin Hazm said:

Performing Salaah behind an Imam who shortens the beard

Question:

Fiqh - Salaah

Is it permissible to perform Salaah behind an Imam who shortens the beard?

Answer:

Small children standing in the Saff of adults

"When Hazrat 'Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu) used to see a small boy in the Saff, he used to take him out." (Mousannaf Ibn Abu Shaibah)

Reading behind Imam

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:

"The one who has an Imam, then the Qiraat of the Imam is absolutely his Qiraat."

This Hadith shows that one should not read behind the Imam, because what the Imam recites is valid on behalf of those who are following him.
