Perform the Salah of Taraweeh behind a Hafiz sahib who does not keep the beard

Question: Is it permissible to perform the Salah of Taraweeh behind a Hafiz sahib who does not keep the beard or keeps the beard less than the length of a wrist?

Answer: To do one Khatm-ul-Qur’an in the Salah of Taraweeh is Sunnah but it should be done behind an Imaam or a Hafiz Sahib who is serious and pious / Deendaar at least by his appearance. A Hafiz Sahib who (a) does not keep a beard or has the habit of shaving his beard or (b) has the habit of keeping the beard temporarily merely for the Salah of Taraweeh during Ramadhan or (c) keeps the beard less than a wrist length, is a Faasiq according to the Shari’ah. It is not permissible to designate such a Hafiz as Imaam neither for Farz nor for Taraweeh. The board of directors of the Masjid, who authorises such an Imaam to lead the Salah, will be accountable by Allah Ta’ala for neglecting his responsibility. Such a Hafiz is not allowed to do Imaamat nor are the Musallis allowed to follow him. It is better to perform Taraweeh by reciting small Surahs than to make the Khatm-ul-Qur’an behind such an Imaam or Hafiz.
