Loving Allah Ta’ala

Every Muslim must love Allah Ta’ala. Without loving Allah Ta’ala, there is no Imaan. To love Allah Ta’ala means to lead one’s life in accordance to what He wants and not what one wants and to refrain from what He does not love.

Not only should one love Allah Ta’ala, but one should love Him more than everything. To love Him more than everything means that one should not break His commandments in order to obey others and one should not please others if it entails breaking the commandments of Allah Ta’ala.

To love Allah Ta’ala requires that we love those who love Allah Ta’ala as ''the friend of a friend is a friend''. Loving Allah Ta’ala requires that we refrain from those who do not love Allah Ta’ala as “the enemy of a friend is an enemy”. Regarding those who love Allah Ta’ala and whom Allah Ta’ala loves them, Allah Ta’ala says:

" ... who will be kind towards the Mu’mineen, stern towards the Kuffaar ... " (5:54)

"And those with him are stern against the Kuffaar and compassionate among themselves ... " (48:29)

"You will not find people who believe in Allah and the Last Day befriending those who oppose Allah and His Rasul (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) ..." (58:22)
