The First Lot /Second Lot

Just like everything else, to grant a child or not to grant a child also lies in Allah Ta’ala's decree. To be granted a boy or a girl, also lies in the hands of Allah Ta’ala. "... He creates whatever He wills. He confers females to whomsoever He wills, confers males to whoever He wills, or He grants them as male and female ..." (42:49-50)

We should be satisfied with what Allah Ta’ala grants us. The saying that says “first lot” if it’s a boy and “second lot” if it’s a girl, is not Islamic.

Some people manifest their sorrow and some show their displeasure. All this is reprehensible. This was the behaviour of the Kaafir during the time of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam).

"When one of them is given the good news of a daughter (being born to him), his face darkens and he suppresses his fury. He hides from the people because of the terrible news that he received. Must he keep her with disgrace or bury her in the sand? ..." (16:58-59)
