Nafl Salah on the day of Eid

Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) recommended performing two Rak'aat Salah after sunrise. According to a Hadith found in Tirmizi, Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:

"The one, who performs the Salah of Fajr in congregation and then remains sitting while making Zikrullah until sunrise and then he performs two Rak'aat, will get the reward similar to the reward of a complete Hajj and 'Umrah."

Consuming dates before going for the Salah of Eid

Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) used to eat a few dates before going for the Salah of Eid-ul-Fitr. This was always an odd amount. According to the 'Ulama, Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) practiced this in order to do the opposite of what he did during the whole month of Ramadhan. So, it is Sunnah to eat an odd amount of dates before going to perform the Salah of Eid-ul-Fitr. If a person does not have dates, he can eat something sweet in order to observe this Sunnah.
