V.A.T — VALUE ALLAH'S TIME! (TIME)

Time is a very valuable blessing. However, it depends on how you use it in order for its value to increase or decrease. If you use your time looking for charcoal, it will become charcoal; if you invest your time to extract gold, then your time will become gold. And if you engage your time to extract pearls, then your time will become pearl.

The time of Insaan acquires its real value when he engages it to get the love of Allah Ta’ala; and it is this love that gives everything its value.

Dunya and Aakhirah

Dunya refers to everything that distances you from Allah Ta’ala even if it is in the form of Deen. For example, a person does Deeni work to show off and his goal is to receive honour and popularity. With such an evil intention and goal, a person will be miserable on the day of Qiyaamah even if he has sacrificed his life. On the other hand, if a person is working honestly for his livelihood according to Deen, this is an action of Aakhirah even if he does it in the bazaar and it does not have any form of Deen.

Taqwa

Taqwa is the willpower to live for the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala. It is a glory and the greatest glory for Insaan. Allah Ta’ala said in Qur'an:

"...Certainly, the most honoured of you in Allah’s sight is the one with the most Taqwa." (S49/V13)

Tolerance

A person borrowed money from you. He was unable to respect the deadline that you had given him to pay back. You have extended the deadline without reproaching him. You have shown tolerance. In doing this, you have shown the good manners and good qualities that you possess. Allah Ta’ala says in the Qur’an-e-Kareem:

"If he is in financial difficulty, then allow him grace until a time of ease. It is better for you to be charitable..."  (S2/V280)

A way to refrain from sins

If a person remains in the state of Wuzu, this may help him to refrain from sins to some extent because when he will be in the state of Wuzu, he will have the willpower and desire to remain in Zikrullah. As we know, Zikrullah protects a person from Shaitaan who wants to ruin him at all costs. Therefore, Zikrullah will serve as a protection against Shaitaan and will keep him away from sins. In a Hadith, Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) informed us that Shaitaan clench / adhere to the heart of a person.

Hadith

"There are two blessings which many people forfeit: health and free time." (Saheeh Bukhari)

N.B: That is, many people do not benefit from their health and their free time. That is why they cannot make the best out of it. They fall short/are unsuccessful.
