Sins

Committing sins in public

Committing sins is very grave. But committing it in public is even more serious than committing it secretly. Committing it secretly and revealing it afterwards is like committing it in public. Watching a movie on television or elsewhere with friends or family, especially obscene and erotic scenes is considered as committing sins openly and in public. This gives us an idea of the seriousness of what boys and girls are committing boldly in the street without any shame. And we find ourselves incapable of reforming them.

Imitating others

According to a Hadith, whoever imitates any community, will be considered one among them. This means that if a Muslim follows a principle of another religion, then there is a possibility of him being with the people of that religion on the day of Qiyaamah. Likewise, if someone follows the fashion and principles of those who are not in Deen, he will be with these very types of people on the day of Qiyaamah.

Faasiq

A Faasiq is one who commits a major sin or one who persists on a minor sin. A person denigrates himself by committing sins and renders himself unworthy. He shows that he is shameless. That is why the testimony of such a person is not acceptable. It is very sad that a person can be honourable in the eyes of people but has no value in the eyes of Allah Ta'ala. True honour is the honour that a person has in the eyes of Allah Ta'ala. It is an honour that remains and is certain.

Sin and its remedy

Sin is an impurity. It renders the heart impure. It is an impurity that surpasses physical impurity. But because one does not feel it, one does not find it grave. But in reality, it is very impure.

Pride

A proud person is a person who has stooped in lowliness. A person who is really noble cannot have this reprehensible behaviour. All righteous people whom this earth carried on its back, were humble people. There was no righteous person who had this disgusting and undesirable character. And never in the future also, will there be a righteous person who will have this character.

Moreover, in the presence of this bad character, a person cannot become righteous even if he seems to be very good.

Double-sided face

When a person shows two different types of behaviour, it is commonly known as two-faced. This way of life is not appreciated by those who lead such a type of life also. Is it not this that is called hypocrisy? This is a reprehensible way that even the hypocrites do not like. Imagine if one's wife has a double-sided face in one's house. No doubt it will be painful and unbearable. Thus, how can one permit oneself to lead such a life? People must be sincere in life. Sincerity should be accompanied by frankness also.

Gheebah

Gheebah means to reveal the shortcoming of a person behind his back. This is a Haraam practice. According to the Qur'aan-e-Karim, it is like consuming the flesh of one's dead brother. And according to the Hadith of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam), it is a practice that is more serious than interest and Zina (adultery).
