Ramadhaan

Under the ground

How many people whom we know were above the ground yesterday, are under the ground today. Above or under the ground, it is a system that will continue to exist as long as this world exists. This is not something new. It is something that has always existed. If the Prophets (Alaihis Salaam) and especially the greatest Prophet and the greatest Insaan, our Habeeb and beloved Nabi, Hazrat Muhammad Mustapha (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam), has not been exempted from this system, who can claim that he will live on earth forever.

THE ROUT

We were able to fight our Nafs during the month of Ramadan by the grace of Allah Ta’ala. We have been able to stop or at least reduce our evil deeds and we noticed that our life went smoothly without that too. Our expenses also may have diminished. In short, we did our best to obey the commandments of Allah Ta’ala. That's why we did not even celebrate a wedding during this month because there are a lot of customs in a wedding that are immoral, indecent and against the Shari'ah.

An appointment!

When one's time sets in, one has to go. One will not get a little more time to complete whatever one was doing. And that time comes without appointment. One cannot refuse to meet it. There is no excuse of occupation, illness, etc. However one is, wherever one is, one cannot miss this appointment. And finally as soon as the mission is completed, one's family will not allow one to stay in one's house that one had built with great pleasure and extravagance. But now, this house does not belong to one anymore. It now belongs to one's heirs.

The gravity of missing a fast without a valid reason

We must not neglect a fast in Ramadhan without a valid reason because according to the Shari’ah, a Muslim who is sane and mature, MUST fast. Without a valid reason, it is not permissible to leave out a fast. It is a big sin to leave out a fast without any valid reason.

Rasullullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:

Niyyat – The intention

Question: Until when can one formulate the Niyyah for the Roza of Ramadhaan?

The fast of a person who wakes up after the time of Sehri has ended

Normally, before going to bed at night, a person already has the intention to fast the following day. If he was not able to wake up in time for Sehri and woke up past that time, he must not eat and drink because he is already in the state of fasting. It is Sunnah to have Sehri prior to fasting. However, it is not obligatory to do so, although it is not good to fast without having Sehri. So if someone did not wake up and did not have time to have Sehri, his fast is valid.

Breaking the fast prior to sunset by mistake

Q: What does the Shari'ah say about a person who mistakenly breaks his fast before sunset?

A: If in spite of having taken all precautions, a person mistakenly breaks his fast before the correct time under the impression that the sun has already set while it is not the case, then there is no blame on him nor is there any Kaffaarah, but he will have to replace that fast.
