Qazaa

Combining two Salah at one time

Just as it is a grave sin to make a Salah Qaza, likewise, combining two Salah at one time is a grave sin too. For example, if a person performs the Salah of Zohr and A'ssr at the time of A'ssr or at the time of Zohr, it is a very grave sin because by performing Salah in this way, the person goes against the Qur’an-Kareem and the Hadith that command to perform every Salah at its prescribed time.

Making Salah Qaza

According to the Qur’an-e-Kareem and the Hadith of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam), every Salah has a time interval and it must be performed within it. If a Salah is performed before its time, it is not counted. And if it is performed after its time, it becomes Qaza. According to the commandments of the Qur’an-e-Kareem and the teaching of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam), just as it is Farz and obligatory to perform 5 times Farz Salah, likewise, it is obligatory to perform them at their fixed times.

Neglecting Salah

Neglecting Salah is a very grave sin. It is so grave that some Hadith have categorised it as Kufr. Is there a sin more grave than Kufr? According to a Hadith found in Musnad Ahmad, a person who neglects Salah will be with Qarun, Fir'aun, Hamaan and Ubayy Bin Khalaf. These four people were the worst Kaafir and among the very bad people. Therefore, neglecting Salah is so grave that it puts a person in the group and rank of the worst Kaafir.

Testimony of a person who neglect Salah

A person can be honourable in the eyes of people because he has great diplomat and a great job. He may have a very good reputation in the society but if there is no Salah in his life, then according to the Shariah, he does not hold the same value that he has in the eyes of people. His testimony is not accepted according to the Shariah because the criterion for the acceptance of testimony is that the person must be trustworthy. A person who leaves out Salah, goes down to a level where he cannot be trusted and thus he becomes an unworthy person.

Negligence in Salah

According to Hazrat Abdullah Bin Mas'ud (Radiyallaahu Anhu), the verse 59 of Surah 19 (Surah Mariam), refers to those who do not perform their Salah on time. Either they do it very late or they postpone a Salah in the time of another, which is called performing Qaza Salah. According to this verse, Allah Ta'ala says:

Replacing the missed Salah

Salah is obligatory and is a fundamental pillar of Islam. It must be performed in its prescribed time. The Salah that a person could not perform on time, regardless of the reason, must be replaced afterwards. The Salah that a person has neglected during his whole life must be replaced. This is because it is a debt towards Allah Ta'ala which should be compensated. One must not be discouraged. One must muster courage and start replacing them little by little. One will see that in few days, all will be replaced.

To make one's Salah Qaza

Just as Salah is obligatory, likewise it is obligatory to perform it in its prescribed time. For example, the Salah of Fajr must be performed before sunrise. If due to laziness a person continues to sleep and performs the Salah of Fajr after sunrise, it means that he has performed it after its appointed time. To perform a Salah after its appointed time is called making Salah Qaza. And this is a major sin if it is done without a valid reason.
