Akhlaaq-Tasawwuf

No and no

"And do not incline towards those who are unjust: otherwise the fire shall reach you ..." (S 11: V 113)

The opposite direction

You occupy quite an important post. There are many people working under you. You may take actions and sanctions against those who do not follow your guidelines. That is why the people who work under you are afraid of you and they execute your orders. They do not want to have any problems with you. Sometimes you can also explode with anger if they make blunders. Despite all what you can do, did you ever realise that your capacity is limited? There is much more that you will not be able to do despite your willingness to do it.

A hotline

There was a time when it was not only difficult but impossible to contact people who lived in certain parts of the globe. Nowadays, we have the advantage of telecommunication. we can contact any person we wish to in any part of the world. Nevertheless, if the person himself does not want to speak to you, then all the means of communication will be useless.

The enemy

An enemy will never wish your well-being. He will always want to harm you at all costs. When you know that someone is your enemy, you will take precautions. You will never trust him. Even his sweet words will not attract you. You will consider it as a trap.

Riya

Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) expressed his worry concerning something which he himself termed as Shirk Asghar. What is this grave thing which is called Shirk Asghar? Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) defined it as Riya. Riya is a disease which makes a person carry out something to gain fame. That is, he does this to gain popularity and to be praised by people. For example, one must have a pure and clean intention when accomplishing a good deed, especially Ibaadah. One must always do it solely for the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala.

Taqwa and Taubah

Taqwa or the obedience of Allah Ta'ala is like a fortress. Outside this fortress, there is a type of forest which is haunted and infested by ferocious animals. Coming out of this fortress is 'Fisq' which means to sin. As long as a person is in the obedience of Allah Ta'ala, it is as if he is protected in this fortress. As soon as he commits a sin, it is as if he comes out of the fortress.

Degrading

We must be honest enough not to pretend to know what we do not know. We should have the decency to refer to someone who knows if we do not know. We should not consider it as dishonour because in reality dishonour is in making false pretensions. Pretending to know that which we do not know is a grimace. And we know very well who makes grimacess. In any case, it is not the manner of a serious person.
