Akhlaaq-Tasawwuf

The natural and the artificial

Nowadays, people no longer like simplicity. Yet simplicity is easier and more accessible. By doing some addition and subtraction, people complicate simple things because people love grandiose which exhausts them and complicates their life. And in this way, they complicate the lives of others also. People adopt this grandiose in all fields. Nothing is protected from that. In the same way, people are more attracted to artificial things than natural ones.

Why would a person have Riya?

Setting aside this immense reward which Allah Ta'ala has promised for the acts of 'Ibaadah and being interested in other worldly things, is like throwing away gold or diamonds to pick up stone. This is not the action of a sane person. It must be a person who does not understand and does not know the value of what he is throwing. So, a person who has Riya must be a stupid person or a person who does not have the necessary belief about the promises of Allah Ta'ala.

What does Riya mean?

We perform 'Ibaadah to please Allah Ta'ala only. Taking into consideration another factor besides the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala is against sincerity. This is what is termed Riya. In simple words, Riya means performing 'Ibaadah for personal advantages and worldly benefits. In simpler words, we call it performing Ibaadah for ostentation and show. Sometimes a person does it to get grandeur, honour and merit in the eyes of people. And sometimes he does it to be known as good and to take benefits from people.

Lying

Lying means to say something which you know is not as you mentioned. You know that your friend did not do something. But you intentionally insist that he did it. This is called a lie and the one who commits this action is called a liar. In the Qur'an-e-Kareem, Allah Ta'ala says:

"The curse of Allah is on the liars".

Deendaar and Dunyadaar

Dunyadaar is someone who keeps Dunya in his heart. A heart which is filled with Dunya is like a boat filled with water which sinks it.

A person who loves and runs after Dunya sacrifices everything that becomes an obstacle in his path. At a certain point, he may turn his back on his Khaaliq (creator) also. Finally, he loses in all aspects because when he leaves the Dunya, he goes empty-handed while Aakhirah was already not in his account.

The Sunnah of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam)

The Sunnah of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) is a very appreciable and wonderful. It is something that beautifies our life. It is something that illuminates our hearts and minds. The fortunate ones are the ones who get the will to practice it. It is a sign of love for Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). To practice a Deeni act without observing the Sunnah of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) is like food without salt and a drawing without colour.

Shaitaan

Shaitaan had enmity and jealousy for Hazrat Adam (Alaihis salam). He was the cause of his expulsion from Jannah. Now, he is trying his best so that no Insaan (human) enters Jannah. Allah Ta'ala has declared him as an enemy. He has no love for Insaan. When Insaan commits a sin, it is as if that Insaan is following that Shaitaan who does not love him at all. Is there any prosperity in following Shaitaan? There is nothing besides a temporary minute pleasure. It is not wise for Insaan to mortgage and commit his eternal life to a little pleasure.
