Marriage

Choosing your partner

Marriage is not just for a few days. It is for a life-time. In order to have harmony in a marriage, one must make a good choice regarding the partner that one will have to live day and night. Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) has advised us to consider the aspect of Deen when choosing our partner because when a person has Deen in the true sense of the word, he will know how to live with the next person. While living with the next person, we must respect his rights. Deen teaches a person to respect the rights of the next person.

The state of mind of a true Muslim

Question: What is your opinion about polygamy?

Debates on M.P.L.

It does not seem that the debates that are being done on M.P.L. at several levels will lead to anything positive. This is because the discussion is taking place wrongfully. This had to be done on three very essential points:

  1. Is there a Supreme Being who created the Universe?

  2. Is Qur’an-e-Kareem the message of this Supreme Being to humanity?

Polygamy

Polygamy means marrying more than one woman. A Muslim man has the right to marry up to 4 women at a time. However, he must treat all his wives equally. Treating all his wives equally, applies to material things only such as food and drink, clothing, housing and spending the night. That is, he must stay one night by each one. He does not have the right to spend two nights by one and only one night by the other. Each one must have the same number of nights.

The law of M.P.L.

The law of M.P.L. is the law of Allah Ta’ala. The law that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala has revealed in the Qur'an and has been taught by Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam), for example, the way that a Muslim must live and act in regards to his marital life and inheritance, etc. We must be very careful while discussing or commenting about M.P.L. among friends. This manner of speaking: I do not accept the M.P.L or I do not agree with the M.P.L or M.P.L.

Do not render judgement

"A judge must not render judgement between two persons when he is angry." (Saheeh Bukhari)
